It's bright yellow and needs nothing – 60 mph 2 seater and a lot of fun!
With trailer.
I can email you pics.
I'll guess that you have some onboard electronics that continue to function even while the ski is off. It could also be to prevent electrolysis and corrosion of electrical fittings. It could also have been the previous owner's poor man's anti theft system. Whatever his reasons were you will probably be just fine if you want to leave the battery in from day to day like most people do. It is a good idea to remove the battery for winter storage though, or for any extended periods of time when the ski won't be used.

Vancouver – Looking to buy Kawasaki Jet Ski SeaDoo Yamaha Waverunner Parts: WANTED TO BUY: Used jetski, personal…
"Head Tate" is correct and I may add. 4-stroke gives "smoother", "better", "less noise", ride. "Oil mixture" and MUST be considered on 2-stroke engines. YOU cannot "burn" just any oil in these 2-strokes and the proper "oil" is expensive. Older 2-stroke jet skis (PWC) have a "tendency" of NOT being well maintained or proper oil mixture, or proper oil, period.
ALWAYS have a used boat or PWC checked by a qualified tech, approx. $120. Better to spend "little" than purchase spending a LOT. Remember, VIN's are located on the right/rear and the last two digits is year of manufacture. If NOT there WALK AWAY! If the unit is really old it may not have a VIN or located elsewhere, WALK AWAY, as well. If owner reluctant on having "checked" by YOUR mechanic of choice, WALK AWAY, something is NOT right.
SeaDoo is "far" superior than Honda. Honda is relatively "NEW" to this market, therefore, may be a good "fit" if priced right because it cannot be that old. When I sold PWC, mainly SeaDoo, we many times had "trade ins" of Hondas to purchase SeaDoo.
If pulling is important stay 4-stroke. I would also HIGHLY recommend Yamaha 175, SeaDoo 185, or higher in POWER. YOU and other family members will enjoy a "lot" better than smaller engines. NOTE: Many in North Atlanta area purchased the MOST powerful PWC, SeaDoo's 215 3-seater. This is what I own, and not much on any water, boat or PWC can "compete". Point is, the POWER is just TOO much for some and YOU may find one at a great price because the current owner wants to "down size" due to safety issues.
80 hours is moderate usage for a jetski. I have a 1997 GP1200 with 75 hours on it and it runs just fine. The important thing to consider is how hard were those 80 hours. You want to thoroughly inspect the ski. Check for signs of abuse on the hull, and prop. Look for rust and salt residue. check the compression. Your best bet is to take someone with you who knows jetskis and have them check it out. if possible, see if you can take it for a ride. When buying used the saying is "Caveat Emptor", let the buyer beware."
Drain the fuel , if it wasn't already done. and pull the spark plug(s) to get a look at it.Maybe just replace it 'cause their cheap anyway. make sure you get the gap right. Then check the air cleaner if it has one. Look for grease fittings on the steering linkage and oil all points that hinge or connect to somthing else. VERY IMPORTANT : If you run it in salt water you must flush the system right away with fresh water. The owners manual should tell you how. Does the seller have the Manual?
use an engine degreaser.
