I hаνе a 1992 yamaha vxr waverunner. It wаѕ running fine bυt thе next time i tried tο ѕtаrt іt аbουt a month later іt wouldent crank. It јυѕt mаkеѕ a slight humming sound (lіkе a small electric motor). I know іtѕ nοt thе battery bесаυѕе іt іѕ fully charged аnd i hаνе tried diffrent batteries. I thіnk іt іѕ еіthеr thе starter οr thе solinoid bυt im nοt sure. Dοеѕ anyone know more аbουt thіѕ?

sounds like a starter to me.

i’d start by pulling the spark plugs. its possible water or fuel has filled the cylinders, liquids do not compress so teh piston cant be moved.
with the plugs out, you should be able to turn the motor over by hand. if you can, the motor isnt locked up which would keep the starter from spinning it.

once you know the motor is able to turn, its probably just a bad starter. you can try tapping on the starter case with the wooden handle of a hammer as you try to start it. that sometimes get results by knocking a sticking starter loose. but you can bust the magnets and ruin a good starter by hitting it with a hammer.
if you do get it to crank by knocking it, replace it. it will just stick up again and again and eventually you will bust the magnets trying to get it turning.

solenoid, its easy enough to bypass the solenoid and get the starter to spin. but depending on starter design, it may not engage the flywheel without the solenoid being used.
put the starter on the bench and using a known good battery and a set of jumper cables, clamp the negative to the starter case and tap the postive to the big terminal closest to the starter body (it will be the only terminal if solenoid is not attached to starter). if nothing happens, starter is bad.
